Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between BurnerBrowsers and a VPN?
A VPN hides your IP and encrypts your traffic. It doesn't touch the browser that's giving you away: the cookies, the fingerprint, the history. We swap that browser for ours and burn it when you're done.
I have a VPN. Why would I need this?
Keep it. Your VPN changes where your traffic seems to come from. It doesn't change who's browsing. Your browser still carries your cookies, your history and a fingerprint that can single you out. We swap it for a fresh browser on our machine and burn it when you're done. VPN for your location. BurnerBrowsers for your browser. Use both.
How much does it cost?
$1 per hour. That's it.
What information do you collect or retain from me?
Almost nothing. A random account number, your balance, and for 20 days, your payment records and charge records (the credits each session cost). No name, no email (unless you provide it to us), no phone. We don't record your browsing.
Can I watch adult and visit blocked sites?
Yes. Legal adult content, and sites your network blocks. However, think of it as private access, not a free pass. Illegal activity is banned.
Can I use this as my alternate identity?
Yes. Every session starts blank: no cookies, no history, no old logins. Keep work, personal and side projects apart. Follow each site's rules.
Can I log in my personal accounts with this?
Technically yes — but save it for the risky browsing. Everything you type runs on our machine, and logging in ties that session to you.
Can I use this for illegal activity?
No. Absolutely not.
I lost my account number / forgot my password / deleted my account. How can I get it back?
Gone for good. No email, no reset, no backdoor. That's the price of us not knowing who you are. Write your number down. We will not be able to access or recover your account.
Why do some sites ask me to prove I'm human?
VPN addresses are shared. Expect extra checks sometimes.
Is this a replacement for Tor or Tails?
No. If your safety depends on it, as a journalist or dissident, use Tails or Whonix.
Is it safe on an infected computer?
No. What you type still passes through that device. Don't enter important passwords on one you don't trust.
Do I have to trust you?
A little, like any VPN. Here's exactly how much. We run the browser. Everything you do in a session passes through our machines, and the VPN it exits through is ours too. We don't record it. You can't check that from outside, so don't do anything here you couldn't stand us seeing. If your safety depends on it, use Tails or Whonix. So we hold as little as we can. No name, phone, ID or card. Your IP is kept only while your session is live. When it ends, the session is destroyed. What's left is your balance, and for 20 days, your payment records and charge records (the credits each session cost and which session it paid for) Leave anytime. Delete your account and the account, balance, payment and charge records, and session history go with it.
